Dear Debra,
In the Maasai community, the people hear the call for collaboration loud and clear.
Together, we take a creative, flexible approach to making life better.
If homes are healthier with stoves and solar, why not make the water safer too?
If herders can adapt to diminishing rainfall, why not help the farmers too?
With the people’s enthusiastic embrace of each new arena
They discover that a better life is not just an idea–but a reality.
Yet much more remains to be done--and once again, we ask for your help.
Your generosity benefits the entire community

Meet Neema Petey Julius.
Neema was recently appointed supervisor of the tree nursery of the new Mazingira Project, raising thousands of tree seedlings for planting by the community.
Originally from Endulen village in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Neema now lives in Baraka village with her daughter.
Following secondary school, Neema completed a secretarial and computer training course. She applied for job after job but there were none to be had.
Last year, the ICSEE hired her for several projects, including orienting visitors from G Adventures, who participate in Maasai Stoves & Solar work as part of their tour. She demonstrated excellence in this work and we wish her the best as she begins her new advisory role.
“I looked for a job for so many years that I almost gave up. Working with ICSEE, I now have my own money. I don’t have to ask my husband for money for food or for my daughter’s clothes.
It feels really good to see the impact of my work on the community. It is huge. I now feel recognized and very respected by my community.
I never imagined that I would get the chance to do important, good work like this. Thank you ICSEE for trusting me and providing me with these great opportunities. “
"Life is better because of the work we are doing."—Neema
Our flagship stove installation activities continue to grow. Smoke-removing stoves and solar electrification are always desired by the Maasai, living in their uncomfortable and unhealthy traditional homes.
Every opportunity to improve a home is cause for our action.
In collaboration with farmers neighboring our Smart Farm, our next climate change initiative is in full swing. Together, we hope to demonstrate that groundwater development is a good investment.
Drilling bore holes and installing solar-powered pumps requires funds, but we predict that this adaptation to less dependable rain is well worth it.
All this is possible because of your generosity and collaborative spirit
For your $50 gift, a family settlement receives 200 trees to plant.
Help get the smoke out! Your $160 gift means a mom and her kids will breathe better in their homes.
Contribute $1400 to install a micro-electric grid for an entire settlement.
