Our new launch
In Swahili, Maisha Bora means “the good life”. And now, it also means a new way to bring income to the people. We are proud to announce the launch of Maisha Bora Collaborative Enterprises (MBCE).
Social enterprise Peter Jepson and Nadine St. Amant have long been interested in social enterprise. Rather than depending on grants or ongoing donations, social enterprise is a way to use ideas from for-profit business practice to provide benefits for the people.
Working side by side
Under the auspices of ICSEE (T) the MBCE purchased land and is constructing a new
building to be used for a grain storage enterprise to bring income to Maasai women.
The ICSEE (Tanzania) provides the framework for this approach. The Maasai Stoves &
Solar Project and MBCE work side by side.
Social enterprise pipeline
The MBCE committee made up of Peter, Nadine, Kisioki, and Bob is studying fuel briquette manufacture. Made from waste, briquettes could eventually be an excellent replacement for charcoal.
In addition to the grain storage endeavor, A cow-fattening enterprise that employs Maasai men is already underway.
